10am – 3pm each day
If your children are interested in nature, art, science or all three, this could be the perfect way to kick off their summer!
On each day of the week Tuesday 15 July – Friday 18 July, the group will create their own artwork inspired by found objects from Aberdeen beach and plant life from Duthie Park with artist Roos Dijkhuizen.
Cost per day £20 including drinks and snacks. Children to bring their own packed lunch.
Tuesday 15th July – Microscope Monoprint
On this first day, the group will spend time looking at and drawing plant life from a microscopic perspective, creating a wall garden made of mono-prints in the Peacock Visual Arts gallery.
Wednesday 16th July – Shadow play drawing class
This second day will be spent working together to make an installation of drawings of found objects from Aberdeen beach, having fun experimenting with projectors and stencils.
Thursday 17th July – Fabric Printing
This day will be a crash course in screen printing onto fabric using ready-made exposed imagery. Perfect for any budding screen-printers out there!
Friday 18th July – Inflatable Making
In this last workshop, the kids will have the opportunity to learn how to cut and sew their own inflatable sculpture using screenprinted fabric. The work will again be inspired by greenery and found objects from Aberdeen city. These final inflatable objects will complete the display in the gallery, ready for family and friends to come and have a look.
Saturday 19th July
Family and friends are all invited to the gallery to see the work that will become part of a wonderful installation in the space.
Children can take part in each day individually, or all four. We are encouraging children who want to attend the Inflatable class on Friday to at least attend Wednesday or Thursday’s class first, so that they can spend more time working towards what they want to make.
