Curatorial Studio is our ongoing project about, for, and by, contemporary art curators. It is devised by Kirsteen Macdonald and developed with partners across Scotland. Our next events will be in Aberdeen with the Oslo-based independent curator, researcher, writer and philosopher Zofia Cielatkowska on the theme of Postcolonial Ecologies in Art and Curating.
Curatorial Studio invites key international curators to Scotland to hold small focused workshops and to give associated public talks on their work in a range of host venues across the country. The workshop programme is focused on supporting early career and independent curators by exploring current projects, working practices and the free exchange of ideas. All our activities are free and places for the workshop will be allocated by SCAN after an open call. Our talks programme draws on wider themes, to explore how curatorial work can tell new stories about the world.
Curatorial Studio 2019 highlights key international voices concerned with identity and representation, the impacts of transcultural exchange, and the possibilities for curatorial work to challenge dominant narratives.
