On Saturday 1st June at 10am join Michael Waight in our workshops and learn how to do Japanese Stab Binding.

Spend a leisurely day producing a number of books using this very old and established form of binding. You will start by making a simple four-hole structure called ‘Yotsume Toji’ and progress through the day with other stitching patterns like ‘Asa-No-Ha Toji’ (hemp leaf binding) You will be shown a way to make more substantial covers incorporating boards and book cloth along with decorative papers suitable to the forms. You will make templates for each form made, along with technical hand-outs, making it possible to repeat such lovely and decorative forms beyond the class.
