This look takes us to 2009-2010 and the work of two animators trying their hand at medium they had never attempted until their visit to Peacock, lithography. BAFTA winning The Brothers McLeod (animators Greg and Myles McLeod) have been producing work together since 2000 creating ‘Fuggy Fuggy’, writing and directing CBBC’s ‘Pedro and Frankensheep’ along with producing a series of adverts with Aardman Animations.
They exhibited with us in 2009 and alongside a screening of their film ‘Codswallop’ they did a kids workshop as well as a workshops for local young people from the Barnardo’s ‘home from home’ project. This project enabled children who cared for a parent or sibling with a disability to have time out from the responsibility of caring. When the brothers were invited into the workshop to have a look around, Greg Mcleod was drawn to lithography. Stones were prepared and the animator’s hands quickly got to work. The resulting images jump off the page, mirroring the vitality that Greg invested in the new medium.
