As you might know, it’s been an amazing twelve months where Peacock’s plans for a new Centre for Contemporary Arts in the Union Terrace Gardens area of Aberdeen gained full planning permission and secured over £9.5 million of funding.
However, we now face new circumstances as Scottish Enterprise investigate a larger re-development of Union Terrace Gardens following the announcement of Sir Ian Wood’s proposals for a new scheme on that site.
We have been able to continue for the next few months whilst the feasibility of Sir Ian’s proposed scheme is investigated and are engaging with the feasibility consultants to try and ensure that the larger scheme offers the best solution for the people of Aberdeen.
The results of the feasibility study will be out in May and we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
In the meantime please be assured that Peacock is committed to securing the future of a major cultural heart for the North-east and all of its people.
